Indigo Bluffs RV Park Empire, Michigan

Pulling into Indigo Bluffs RV Park and Resort after that slight gravel road detour we were happily greeted with 70-degree temperatures and I startled by a very peculiar frog! You see; my son had sneakily placed him on my shoulder while navigating my husband backing the trailer in.

When you take in the surroundings of this beautiful park you will sigh with gratitude that 1. You finally made it and are alive to tell the story and 2. the remoteness and beauty of the tall slim trees with nice flat campsites will calm those long haul jitters! The trees provide endless shade for the sites with little speckles of sunshine that peek through. The towering slim trucks compliment the sites nicely and in no way threaten to take out an awning. The breeze whistling through the leaves set the ideal backdrop for swaying in a hammock with a good book and a lazy foot dangling off of the side. Each campsite is spacious enough to set up your chairs around the fire pit along with a pop up canopy if you have one and most are equipped with nice concrete pads. The RV park is the perfect setting for families. Hearing the sounds that night of neighboring sites with couples lounging for the evening and children bicycling throughout the park we're a welcome comfort. The Resort side of the park is nicely paved with great landscaping and a nice pond and is perfect for those longer stays or larger motorhomes and campers. There is a small store open for necessities and a nice pool for taking a late evening dip; a cold one at that!

Starved and drained (you know the drill) we set our sights on the raved about food scene in Traverse City! I scoped out a spot called The Little Fleet; a combo of eclectic food trucks and beer! Yes beer! Unfortunately, we were too late and the lines too long; but just across the street under a checkered awning; the glowing red PIZZA sign led us to safety! We don't gamble with appetites here so this was a fast fix. Phil ordered the Chicago style (not the deep-dish kind Phil tells me...the real Chicago style), my son ordered a plain cheese and I a gluten free cheese. Let me tell you it was worth every penny! Seriously the best pizza at Paisano's...we were restored!
