Lake Trout. Traverse City Lake Michigan
Bright and early at 4am we met our guides on the Grand Traverse Bay and stepped on the beautiful (I can’t remember the name of the boat) boat. There is something so refreshing and peaceful gliding out into the water while the sun rises in Michigan.
It was pure joy to see the happiness and excitement in Phil and my son pulling in the large trout and working the lines. They wrangled in 6 nice sized trout and 1 good bass for the day. Our guides prepped, skinned and cleaned the fish for us to take home.
We were back at the camper early afternoon where the boys napped and I swung in the hammock catching the cool breezes. With my son in for a long haul slumber; Phil and I set out on a short hike to the Empire Bluff Trail. This 1.5 mile trail leads to a gorgeous Lake Michigan overlook and is tucked among tall beech maple trees. I loved this hike….it was a life worth living moment. Later, the boys set out for some late afternoon fishing to cap off the day and I told them to drop me back off to Glen Haven Beach. Stacking stones, ice cold dips and taking in the rays were all I needed after today and for dinner; you guessed it, we fried up our trout catch of the day and dined proud.
